(April 19) He won the gold in snowboarding, and now he’s promoting products grown in the Golden State.

Shaun White, who won the gold medal for the half-pipe event in snowboarding at the 2006 Olympics in Torino, is featured as a spokesman promoting agricultural products for California Grown in a public service announcement.

The endorsement was a perfect fit for California Grown, said Maile Shanahan Geis, director of trade relations for the Sacramento, Calif.-based group.

The service announcement was shot April 6 in Del Mar, Calif., and is scheduled for availability to television and radio stations in the state starting in May and lasting for three months.

In the 30-second television commercial, White, who was born near San Diego, talks about the categories of California-grown agricultural products such as produce, dairy, meat, cut flowers, wine and lumber. It includes the state’s fresh, dried and canned products.

It emphasizes the message of California Grown. The announcement also will be available in 20-, 30- and 45-second spots for radio commercials, Shanahan Geis said.
