Status Gro has named Emily Fragoso director of business development.

The South Pasadena, Calif.-based consulting firm was formed by Jin Ju Wilder, former Coast Produce Co. president, after leaving the Los Angeles company in January.

Fragoso was marketing manager at Coast Produce for about four years, according to a news release. Her marketing programs there included Coast Snacking Line, Coast Organic and Farmer’s Select. She also worked with existing programs like Coast Asia and Coast Caliente.

Two programs she implemented, Farmer’s Select and the Coast Snacking Line, won the 2009 Produce Business Excellence in Marketing Award.

Fragoso also developed an e-commerce website with Produce Pro integration, part of a worksite delivery project she managed that aimed to increase consumption of fruits and vegetables. She was also in charge of brand management, new products, line extensions and packaging graphics.

“This experience has given me a wealth of knowledge in creating new marketing programs for product lines as well as developing existing programs,” Fragoso said in the release.

She is on the board of directors at United Fresh Produce Association. She was in United Fresh’s 2010-11 leadership program, sponsored by DuPont.

Before joining Coast Produce, Fragoso was executive vice president at the Fresh Produce & Floral Council, La Mirada.

Status Gro develops strategic plans, advertising and marketing themes, and offers bid and proposal writing services for produce companies, among other services.
