His retirement will be effective Dec. 10, according to a news release.

“Hans’ list of contributions to Stemilt over the past 13 years is both lengthy and impressive,” West Mathison, president, said in the release. “He elevated us during tough times by focusing on quality, efficiency, and innovation.”

During Gréve’s tenure at Stemilt, he helped guide the company in the leadership transition from the late Tom Mathison, company founder, to West Mathison, in the expansion of orchards, remodeling of the company’s main packing facility and upgrading software.

Gréve, who was appointed to Stemilt’s board of directors in 1991, will continue to serve on the board. He also plans to continue serving on the board of the Washington Apple Education Foundation, according to the release.

Before joining Stemilt, Gréve worked for several Europe-based corporations outside of the fresh produce industry. They include Royal Dutch/Shell Group, Fasson Europe and Nilfisk Group.
