After more than 10 years as executive vice president and general manager of Stemilt Growers Inc., Wenatchee, Wash., Hans van Someren GrÃ©ve is stepping down.

His retirement will be effective Dec. 10, according to a news release.
âHansâ list of contributions to Stemilt over the past 13 years is both lengthy and impressive,â West Mathison, president, said in the release. âHe elevated us during tough times by focusing on quality, efficiency, and innovation.â
During GrÃ©veâs tenure at Stemilt, he helped guide the company in the leadership transition from the late Tom Mathison, company founder, to West Mathison, in the expansion of orchards, remodeling of the companyâs main packing facility and upgrading software.
GrÃ©ve, who was appointed to Stemiltâs board of directors in 1991, will continue to serve on the board. He also plans to continue serving on the board of the Washington Apple Education Foundation, according to the release.
Before joining Stemilt, GrÃ©ve worked for several Europe-based corporations outside of the fresh produce industry. They include Royal Dutch/Shell Group, Fasson Europe and Nilfisk Group.
