(Nov. 4) A bid for Sutton Place Gourmet Inc., Rockville, Md., might be accepted by mid-November, according to a Washington Post story.

Mark Ordan, founder of the Fresh Fields supermarket chain, has partnered with Bear Stearns Merchant Partners of New York in the deal. Bear Stearns is providing most of the money to purchase Sutton Place, according to the report.

No buying price was released, as the deal was not yet finalized at the end of October. About $50 million was expected to be invested in the company, which would fund a Northeast expansion.
