(Dec. 4) The 10 Rochester, N.Y.-based Wegmans Food Market Inc. stores in the Syracuse, N.Y., area will mark 40 years in the region Dec. 6 with employees wearing hats and nametags bearing the chain’s 1968 logo, the Syracuse Post-Standard reported.

Stores plan to serve cake from 1 to 3 p.m. and give away samples and $100 gift cards.

The grand opening sale for the John Glenn store, the first in the region, featured Chiquita bananas “just off the banana boat” for 10 cents a pound, the newspaper reported.

Grand opening prizes included a color console TV and a typewriter.
