Cole Demmer has joined the Sholl Group II, Eden Prairie, Minn., as senior business development manager.

This position is new and intended to expand the Green Giant Fresh brand, spokeswoman Becky Bailey said. Demmer is responsible for sourcing packaging suppliers, and will conduct market and oversee new product projects, she said.

Demmer’s previous position brand manager of snacks and single serve for Schwan’s Consumer Brands North America Inc., Marshall, Minn.


Southwest

Continental Fresh LLC, Coconut Grove, Fla., has added Jacqueline Obana to its sales department.

Obana was operations manager for Customized Brokers, Miami, said Albert Perez, director of sales and marketing. She will help establish national sales for the company, Perez said.

Continental Fresh markets South and Central American produce.

Dana Goodman has joined Dallas-based Combs Produce as chief financial officer.

This is a new position, said president Brett Combs.

Goodman’s previous position was as area controller for the Land O Sun division of Dean Foods Co., Horsham, Pa, Combs said.

Goodman was director of the California Certified Organic Farmers, Santa Cruz, and controller and acting chief financial officer for Dallas-based Standard Fruit and Vegetable.


West

Victor Hugo Retes has joined Ahern International Seeds Inc., San Diego, to spearhead research and development at its Celaya, Mexico, branch.

With the primary responsibility of evaluating new hybrid vegetable adapted to southern Mexican growing regions, Retes will focus on the development of new tomatoes, peppers and onions, according to a news release.

California Citrus Mutual, Exeter, elected Dave Roberts chairman of the board at its 31st annual meeting Nov. 6 in Visalia.

Roberts joined the board in 2000, where he has served as vice chair for the past two years. A second-generation family farmer, Roberts has been active on marketing issues and legislative concerns, particularly water-related mandates in his time on the board, according to a news release.

In his acceptance speech, Roberts offered a message of support for family farmers and promised a more focused attention on policy makers and special interest groups who wish to make changes in the industry’s economic framework, according to the release.

Armand Lobato has been hired by the Idaho Potato Commission, Eagle, as western foodservice promotion director.

A 30-year veteran of the produce industry, Lobato’s work history includes positions with Wild Oats Markets in Boulder, Colo., and Sunflower Farmers Markets in Colorado, New Mexico and Utah, according to the release.

C.M. Holtzinger Fruit Co. LLC, Yakima, Wash., promoted Scott Hanses to vice president.

His promotion comes after he successfully combined the field and sales departments, according to a news release.
