(Nov. 10) Warmerdam Packing LLC, Hanford, Calif., has new managers in place and says it is set to move up the ranks among California tree fruit and kiwifruit grower-shippers.

The company plans to add to its 1,800 acres, increase its grower base and pack more fruit, said Martin Hovsepian, chief operating officer.

Warmerdam packs or stores fruit for the Reedley, Calif.-branch of Giumarra Bros. Fruit Co. Inc., Los Angeles; Phillips Farms Marketing, Visalia, Calif.; and Trinity Fruit Sales Co., Fresno, Calif., he said.

The family operation hired Hovsepian in April. He most recently worked in sales for Pactiv Corp., Lake Forest, Ill. He also has worked in management at Ito Packing Co. Inc., Reedley, Calif., and Apio Produce Sales, Guadalupe, when it owned a Dinuba, Calif.-based packing house.

Hovsepian succeeded Larry Narbaitz.

Warmerdam brought on Ken Alfors as production manager in August. Alfors most recently worked at Fowler Packing Co. Inc., Fowler, Calif.

Mike Wolff was hired as the cold storage and quality control manager in August. Wolff most recently worked at Ito Packing.

Jose Chavez fills the maintenance supervisor position. He previously worked at Agdesign Inc., Reedley, Calif., an agricultural machine manufacturer.
