(Aug. 27, 11:53 a.m.) The United Fresh Produce Association, Washington, D.C., is planning a workshop about product recall on Oct. 1-3 in Los Angeles.

“Training for a Recall, Communicating Under Fire” is designed to assist produce industry professionals in understanding and dealing with a product recall and covers the elements of a crisis communication plan, according to a news release.

A two-day program is scheduled on how to prevent a product recall from becoming a crisis. This part of the workshop is planned to emphasize the legal liability and implications of a recall, the importance of traceability and how to apply a crisis plan to recall situations, according to the news release.

In addition, there will be a half day of media training, which is planned to include training by communications and public affairs specialists on how to deliver messages under pressure with mock media interviews.
