The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee will meet Feb. 28 and March 1 in Washington. D.C.

The USDA on Feb. 2 published notice of the meeting, which is open to the public. The meeting, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 28 and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 1, will be held at the Hyatt Hotel Crystal City in Arlington, Va.

Discussion topics for the meeting include harmonization of good agricultural practices, traceability and audit requirements, food safety updates, local farmer/education initiatives, commodity purchasing programs, and working group reports and recommendations to the full committee, the agency said.

The USDA’s Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee was first established in 2001 and were most recently rechartered in March 2009. New members of the committee were appointed in December 2009 by the USDA from industry nominations.

Parties who would like to speak to the committee should contact USDA on or before Feb. 11, the agency said.
