As part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has launched a program challenging game and software designers to develop new tools to encourage kids to eat better and get more exercise.

The USDA’s Apps for Healthy Kids competition will award designers of Web or mobile-passed applications, according to an agency news release.

One set of prizes will go to designers of games for kids, another to designers of digital tools for parents. Cash prizes totaling $40,000 will be awarded, and winners will attend an event at the White House.

Judges of the competition will include Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Inc.; Mark Pincus, chief executive officer of Zynga Game Network Inc.; and Michael Levine, executive director of the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop.
