The Washington Apple Education Foundation has awarded nearly $400,000 in scholarships to more than 100 students this year.

Students, donors and others were present at luncheons in Wenatchee and Yakima recently to celebrate the foundation’s work, the fifth year the organization has brought together the industry through the luncheons.

About 365 guests attended the luncheons, which raised about $31,000 for the scholarship program through sponsors, including Northwest Farm Credit Services, Tree Top Inc. and Crunch Pak LLC.

Students who work, or whose parents work, in the Washington tree fruit industry, are eligible for the scholarships.
