(Aug. 19) WATSONVILLE, Calif. — Strawberry shipper Well-Pict Inc. has hired Dan Crowley as its sales manager.

Crowley succeeds Bob Schreiber, who resigned from the company after 13 years, said Tim Miyasaka, Well-Pict’s founder and marketing consultant.

“It was a mutual understanding, a parting of ways,” Miyasaka said, adding that he thinks Schreiber had done a good job for Well-Pict.

But Miyasaka said retail consolidation has changed the sales environment.

“The old ways have to be revamped a little bit,” he said. “Styles have to change.”

Efforts to reach Schreiber were unsuccessful.
Crowley, a 25-year veteran of the strawberry business, began working for Well-Pict in April exclusively from its Oxnard office, he said. He began work as sales manager in Watsonville the week of Aug. 5.

Before Well-Pict, Crowley served as a sales manager for Cal-Sun Produce Co., Oxnard. He’s also worked for Tavilla Sales Co. of Los Angeles and CT Produce Inc., San Diego.

Crowley said he and his brother also had their own Watsonville-based company, Shamrock Farms, for 10 years.
