(Aug. 16) Jacksonville, Fla.-based chain grocer Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. has announced completing the planned sale of its supermarkets in the Bahamas. The retailer unloaded 12 units in total — 9 stores under the City Markets banner and three under the Winn-Dixie name, selling them to a Bahamian investor group called BSL Holdings Ltd. The $54 million deal will see all 12 locations remain open under their new owners, Winn-Dixie said. Still eyeing a mid-October exit from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Winn-Dixie now operates 527 stores in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia and Mississippi.
