Bayer CropScience, Research Triangle Park, N.C., has consolidated Ballad Plus and Sonata fungicides into a single brand—Sonata.
Both products contain the same active ingredient, but Ballad Plus was labeled for corn and soybeans and Sonata for specialty crops.
With the 2015 season, Sonata also will be labeled for row crops, according to a news release.
The product contains a unique strain of Bacillus pumilus (QST 2808). The organism produces an antifungal amino sugar compound that inhibits cell metabolism.
It also produces a zone of inhibition on plant surfaces, preventing pathogens from establishing.
