The Pollinator Partnership is seeking 300 California and North Carolina farmers and ranchers who want to set aside a small amount of acreage for bee forage crops.

The Bee Buffer program, sponsored in part by Durham, N.C.-based Bert's Bees non-profit The Greater Good Foundation, will involve parcels of 0.25 to 3 acres, according to a news release. It is one of the Pollinator Partnership's initiatives.

Participants will agree to plant the acreage in the official Bee Buffer forage mix.

Plants must be maintained for at least three years, and participants need to allow researchers and beekeepers onsite.
