There's still plenty of time to nominate a potato industry leader for a potato industry award—the deadline isn't until Dec. 1.
The Potato Man of the Year or the Potato Man for All Seasons is presented annually by The Grower and its sister publication, The Packer, in conjunction with the National Potato Council.
The Potato Man of the Year recognizes someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to promote some aspect of the potato industry during the year.
For example, a nominee's activities may involve walking the halls of Washington, D.C., to educate lawmakers about the need for specific pest control products or including potatoes in the school lunch program. Or it may involve making several trips to foreign countries to help establish a market for U.S.-grown potatoes.
The Potato Man for All Seasons recognizes someone who has devoted his or her life to bettering the potato industry.
Nominees can be growers, researchers, marketers or other industry leaders.
