If you've ever dealt with the Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association, there's a good chance you know Sonia Tighe and Mike Aerts.
Neither are strangers to the Maitland-based organization, but they each have new roles, according to a news release.
Tighe joined the FFVA staff as director of membership Aug. 1.
For the past several years, she served in a consulting role as executive director of the Florida Specialty Crop Foundation.
In 2011, her duties were expanded to also coordinate the Emerging Leader Development Program.
In her full-time staff position, Tighe will be responsible for all aspects of membership recruitment, retention and administration in addition to her previous duties.
Before joining FFVA, Tighe worked for Vance Publishing, parent of TheGrower.com, for 25 years.
She also chairs the Florida Ag Expo Committee, the Florida chapter of the National Agri-Marketing Association, the RCMA Christmas Card Steering Committee and the Wedgworth Leadership Institute Advisory Council.
Aerts, formerly membership director, moved to director of production and supply chain management.
He'll focus on two areas of importance to FFVA members: pest management and food safety.
Aerts also will continue his administrative responsibilities with the sweet corn exchanges and the management of supply chain issues.
He also has served as assistant director of FFVA's Environmental and Pest Management Division for nine years.
Before joining FFVA, he was an Extension faculty member at the University of Florida's Food Science and Human Nutrition Department.
