Industry veteran Chris Coffman has joined J&J Family of Farms Inc. as president and chief operating officer, a new position.

J&J Family of Farms names presidentCoffman has worked 24 years in the produce industry, most recently as president of specialty produce supplier Harvest Sensations, Los Angeles, and was CEO and partner with Coral Gables, Fla.-based Delicious Foods LLC and Made In Nature LLC, a Wellington, Fla.-based organic fresh produce and dried fruit distributor.

He also worked at Apio Inc., Guadalupe, Calif., and Del Monte Fresh Produce NA Inc., Coral Gables, Fla.

At J&J, Loxahatchee, Fla., Coffman oversees daily operations for the company, which grows bell peppers, cucumbers, squash, eggplant and tomatoes in Florida, Georgia, Arizona, Tennessee, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

“We have reached a critical time in the growth of organization that required regular operational oversight and we are excited to have Chris on board,” said Chris Erneston, J&J CEO, in a news release. “Chris’ previous experience helps him understand the challenges and opportunities of our business model and with him at the helm, I can focus my energies on business development and the continued strategic relationship building that will propel our farming operations.”

The Erneston family has been growing produce since the early 1920s and J&J was established in 1983. The company and grows on or handles sales for other growers from more than 3,000 acres throughout North America.

Coffman was also CEO of DF Holding.
