Raleigh, N.C.-based MANA Crop Protection has launched KlearSky Technology as an umbrella brand for its family of products that have new low-VOC formulation.
At the same time, the new products perform as well or better than previous MANA formulations, according to a news release.
Volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, are components of smog.
The California Department of Pesticide Regulation, for example, has cracked down on VOCs and is requiring pesticide registrants to reformulate products that had high VOC emissions.
Included in the KlearSky family are ABBA Ultra, Paradigm and Vulcan insecticides.
They also have improved handling characteristics, according to the release.
The new formulations will be sold nationwide and not just in California.
ABBA Ultra miticide/insecticide, for example, carries significant reductions in personal protective equipment, or PPE, restrictions.
It contains the active ingredient abamectin.
Vulcan, which contains the active ingredient chlorpyrifos, is labeled for use on corn, pome fruit, tree nuts, grapes, citrus, vegetables and other crops.
Paradigm carries a "caution" signal word.
It contains the active ingredient lambda-cyhalothrin and provides broad-spectrum pest control in corn and other crops.
