Growers in South Florida may have to reduce water consumption additionally, according to actions taken Thursday by the South Florida Water Management District.

The actions were taken because of declining water levels in Lake Okeechobee.

When lake levels hit 10.5 feet above sea level, growers will have to reduce water consumption by 45 percent. On Thursday, the level was 10.65 feet, more than 2 feet below normal.
