The University of Florida has released two citrus cultivars—UF 711 and RBB 7-34—for the fresh market under its Fast Track Release Option.

The decision to move forward with the varieties was recently made by the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Cultivar Release Committee, according to a news release.

• UF 711 is an easy-to-peel mandarin.

• RBB 7-34 is a navel orange-like variety with more color and flavor than typical Florida navels.

The fast-track program allows participating growers to plant new releases in trials and provide feedback about possible commercialization.
