In light of sequestration-induced budget cuts, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service will suspend several crop and livestock reports for the remainder of the fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30.

They include potato stock reports and all non-citrus fruit, nut and vegetable forecasts and estimates, according to the NASS announcement.

The decision to cut the reports was based on the service's mission and user-based criteria as well as the amount of time it takes to conduct surveys used for the reports.
