George Santayana, a Spanish-born philosopher of the 1800s and 1900s, is quoted as saying, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

The same may be said about disease outbreaks.

In the latest Focus on Tomato webcast, Cornell University plant pathology professor Bill Fry discusses the causes of the 2009 late blight pandemic in the Northeast.

Fry also provides information about a new online decision support system that offers near-real-time information for in-season disease management decisions.

Fungicide trials involved in developing the system will be covered.

The webcast will be available through Feb. 28, 2013.

Other recent webcasts can be viewed at Focus on Tomato.

Focus on Tomato is produced by the non-profit Plant Management Network, a collaborative effort among the American Society of Agronomy, American Phytopathological Society and Crop Science Society of America.
