The Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and the New York State Public Health Laboratory in Albany have confirmed that the strain of E. coli 0145 found in an unopened bag of shredded romaine lettuce distributed by Freshway Foods is the same one that's causing the outreak.

Vaughan Foods of Moore, Okla., received romaine lettuce harvested from the same farm in Yuma, Ariz. The company is recalling romaine lettuce with “use by” dates of May 9 and May 10.

The lettuce was shipped only to food service users and did not go retail.
