The honey industry is no different than many other sectors of agriculture.

Producers want to receive the highest possible price for their raw product while packers or manufacturers want to pay the lowest price possible for the ingredients that go into the end product.

U.S. bee keepers can only meet about half of the domestic demand. The rest comes from imports, which are lower cost.

Because of the different philosophies, bee keepers want to start their own group that promotes only U.S.-produced honey.
