The California Department of Pesticide Regulation has registered Scorpion 35SL insecticide from Yuma, Ariz.-based Gowan Co. LLC.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency registered the product federally in the summer of 2010, according to a news release

The broad-spectrum neonicotinoid contains the active ingredient, dinotefuran.

It is active against whiteflies, mealybugs, stink bug, leafminers, cucumber beetles, thrips, plant bugs and Colorado potato beetles.

When applied to the soil, as a drench or through drip, the insecticide is quickly absorbed by the roots and transported throughout the plant.

It also has translaminar activity when applied as a foliar spray.

Dinotefuran belongs to the Insecticide Resistance Action Committee's Group 4.
