Indianapolis-based Dow AgroSciences has sold its tebufenozide insecticide business to Nippon Soda Co. Ltd. of Tokyo. Financial terms were not disclosed, according to a news release.

In U.S. agriculture, tebufenozide is marketed as Confirm 2F.

Tebufenozide controls a broad range of economically important lepidopteran crop pests. Lepidoptera is the order of butterflies and moths.

This purchase will further strengthen Nisso’s position in these markets, and allows Dow to focus on other priorities in its ag chemical and biotechnology product portfolios, according to the release.

Nippon Soda began selling tebufenozide and its formulations on April 1.
