Jim Sims, who worked as a plant pathologist for more than 40 years at the University of California, Riverside, is urging the California Department of Pesticide Regulation to register methyl iodide, which is marked as Midas.

Sims has a slightly different perspective than most weighing in on the fumigant controversy—he was the chemist that discovered the fumigant and owns the patent for the chemical.
