Cucurbit downy mildew has been found in the nation's heartland, prompting plant pathologists in Illinois to issue a warning to growers to treat.


The destructive fungal disease was found in pumpkin fields in central Illinois, according to a plant pathologist with the University of Illinois.


It also can infect other types of cucurbits, including squash and cucumbers.
