An El Niño ocean current flow in the central and eastern equatorial portions of the Pacific Ocean is expected to influence December through February winter weather, according to the 2009 Winter Outlook released Oct. 15 by the Natioinal Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center.

That could mean warmer-than-average temperatures for the West and Midwest and below-average temperatures for the Southeast, mid-Atlantic states and Texas.
