The Environmental Protection Agency has extended the comment period to Sept. 3 on risk-management options for five soil fumigants. They are chloropicrin, dazomet, metam-sodium and potassium, and methyl bromide. The previous deadline was July 2.

The agency is seeking comments on possible human health risk-mitigation options from people who would be most affected by soil-fumigant use, including growers, professional fumigant applicators, farm workers, neighbors, community members and local officials.
