The Environmental Protection Agency presented Dow AgroSciences of Indianapolis with one of its top honors, the 2008 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award, for spinetoram insecticide.

The insecticide is marketed as Delegate WG for fruit growers and Radiant SC for vegetable growers and targets worm pests.

The award recognizes technologies that incorporate the principles of green chemistry into chemical design, manufacture and use. Spinetoram is derived through the fermentation of natural soil organisms and is the newest product from the spinosyn family.

Green chemistry, also known as sustainable chemistry, encompasses all aspects of chemicals and processes that reduce negative impacts on human health and the environment.

Dow AgroSciences has previously won Green Chemistry Awards for other members of the spinosyn family.
