The Environmental Protection Agency has registered Companion Liquid Biological Fungicide a full Section 3 registration on all agricultural food crops.
Companion, from Growth Products Ltd. of White Plains, N.Y., contains the GB03 strain of Bacillus subtilis as the active ingredient. The bacterium produces a broad-spectrum antibiotic that disrupts pathogen cell wall formation, according to a new release. It also colonizes the roots, preventing pathogens from taking hold.
It targets a host of root and foliar diseases, including root rot, blight, wilt, bottom and stem rot, bacterial leaf spot, gummy stem blight and powdery mildew.
