A group led by the Florida Citrus Packers Inc. and the Indian River Citrus League plan to submit a food safety plan developed just for the state's citrus industry to the Food and Drug Administration within the next month.


The plan covers all the state’s growers and packinghouses and includes citrus grown for fresh market and processing.


The California citrus industry is working on a similar plan.


The Florida citrus program will be similar to one already implemented by Florida's tomato industry.
