Several environmental and consumer groups are asking the California Department of Food and Agriculture to rescind a $180,000 grant it had awarded to a group they say is against organic agriculture.
The Watsonville, Calif.-based Alliance for Food and Farming received the grant last month for a project to "correct the misconceptions that some fresh produce items contain excessive amounts of pesticide residues."
But opponents say the alliance is against organic agriculture, something the opponents advocate.
