Fall potato production in the United States and Canada is forecast at 518 million hundredweight, up 1 percent from 2006 and 8 percent from 2005, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture figures.
The U.S. fall potato production is forecast at 408 million cwt, 2 percent above the previous year and a 7 percent increase from 2005.
Canada’s potato growers expect to harvest 110 million cwt, a 2 percent decline from 2006 but
12 percent above two years ago.
