The Almond Board of California has updated what could be the CliffsNotes of food safety—the Good Agricultural Practices Quick-Start Guide.
New to the 16-page guide is the Harvest and Delivery Sanitation section.
It talks about potential food safety concerns from cross-contamination with equipment and transport containers.
The section also delves into the relationship between Aflotoxin and moisture content of the nuts and hulls in stockpiles. In addition, it addresses stockpile moisture content and other mold development.
