I had the chance on Sept. 8 to chat with Sharese Alston, blogger and program assistant with the Produce for Better Health Foundation, Wilmington, Del..

1:59 p.m. Tom Karst: Hi Sharese

 Sharese Alston:  Hi Tom!!

Tom: I'm glad you could spare some time today. I appreciate it.

2:00 p.m. Sharese: No problem. My pleasure!

2:01 p.m. Tom: Sharese, tell our readers how you first connected with PBH...

2:02 p.m. Tom: And bring us up to date on how you came to create the blog -- which by the way, I really like. It's got a real authentic and
fun voice!

2:03 p.m. Sharese: I started with PBH in 2005 as a Programs Assistant. I took a nutrition course in college and have a lot of experience being an assistant, so the position was a perfect fit!
2:04 pm. Thanks Tom! I tend to write like I talk, so I'm glad you can hear my "voice"! PBH wanted a relatable mommy-blogging voice, and with 3-yr-old at home that I discuss frequently at work, my name was at the top of the list.

2:07 p.m.  Tom: You don't hesitate to acknowledge some of the challenges moms face. I'm sure moms that read your blog have given you some feedback on that point, am I right? It's impossible to be perfect, even if you work for PBH!

2:08 p.m. Sharese: Yes, that is true! And quite frankly, a difficult goal to reach as a working mother. But as moms, we always try. Moms definitely relate to my topics and we've received great feedback so far. I look forward to continuing the conversation with them.

2:09 p.m. working for PBH gives me great resources to draw information from. Information that other moms may not have access too, so I want to share as much as possible with other parents in my same situation.

2:10 p.m. Tom: Good point. Okay, now I'll ask a little "inside blogging" talk. When do you write, how do you choose what to write about, and is your daughter aware she is making the headlines yet?

2:12 p.m. Sharese: LOL! No, she doesn't have a clue yet. I typically write at home after dinner, tub time and my daughter's bed time. It's after I've attempted to create a healthy meal and that always influences blogging ideas. Other than that, they pop up anywhere and I try to jot the topics down as they come.

2:14 p.m. Tom: I liked the post about the "scary" grill...that's fun stuff. Apart from blogging, what a typical week like for you? What do you like most about working for PBH?

2:17 p.m. Sharese: What's typical? That word was removed from my vocabulary 3 years ago. LOL. I love working at PBH so during the day it is my sole focus. After work, I typically do normal mommy things like cook, clean, play with the midget and take some time for me. I enjoy surfing the web and watching YouTube videos, especially now that PBH has a YouTube channel.

2:18 p.m. PBH's mission has truly changed my life. It's awakened my desire to be healthy and influence family and friends to do the same. I get to change the world, or at least my little part of it!

2:22 p.m. Tom: I can tell that really comes through when I read your blog. I look forward to following your posts and I’m glad you took time for the chat. Tell our readers how to find you on the Web - and also about the PBH twitter account....

2:24 p.m. Sharese: Thanks again Tom! It's been a pleasure. You can check out my blog at www.FruitsAndVeggiesMoreMatters.org under the Community Section. To follow us on Twitter, go to www.twitter.com/fruits_veggies.
