I was recently talking with a supplier who had good words about Wal Mart. Speaking on background, the supplier told me this simple statement: "No one has ever gone out of business selling to Wal Mart."

Wal-Mart, the supplier said, knows its value and the value of growers. Wal Mart has been fair to growers, the supplier said. "They try to understand the cost scenario; some retailers don't just get that."

I offer the above in the "for what it is worth" department. I wish Wal-Mart had a more receptive policy to the trade press so we could explore their philosophy of business and confirm their attitudes toward suppliers.
